Rev. Jay Thomas Weigel has been our pastor since 2007. He and his wife Kay have four children and six grandchildren who all reside in the state of North Carolina.
His education accomplishments include receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing & Advertising at Indiana University, Class of 1981 and a Master of Divinity degree from Erskine Theological Seminary, Class of 1985.
Since his ordination in 1985, Jay has served Presbyterian churches in New Albany, MS, Wrens, GA, and, since 1993, in Charlotte, NC. In addition to leading congregations, Jay enjoys serving on Presbytery ministry teams and has experience in a variety of leadership positions including serving as Presbytery moderator twice.
His personal interests include being a fan of most sports, especially of the Carolina Panthers, the Cincinnati Reds and the Indiana Hoosiers. Jay also enjoys playing golf, exercising, doing mystery shops, traveling on back roads, cooking, and reading science fiction and mystery books.
His favorite Bible verses include Psalm 118:24, "This is the day the Lord has made; let us be glad and rejoice in it!" And Matthew 25:37-40 "Then the righteous will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?' "The Lord will reply, 'Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for Me.''
